I have recently come to the realization that weeb culture is one of the worst cultures within the fandom community. I have listed several reasons below about why I think and believe this is true.

1\. People who partake in weeb culture have some of the worst social skills of any other culture group. I have seen people talk about how they need to be better about making friends and meeting people, and that is true, but no other culture group take it to the extreme of being a shut-in that weeb culture does. They rather get their social needs met by talking to a 2D character. 

2\. People within the weeb community seem to have very little respect for anyone who isn't like them. Anybody who likes something different than they like is met with extreme prejudice and disrespect. They want nothing but other people like them around. This makes the community one of the most exclusive of any culture, which leads into my next point...

3\. The community is completely separated from the rest of the fandom community. If you are into other things that isn't anime related, people within the community will look at you with disgust, talk about you behind your back and not invite you to join them if you aren't watching or like anime.

4\. The community is one of the most negative and cynical communities of any fandom culture. If you look at most of the community's posts on twitter, reddit or any other site, it is nothing but complaining about this or that.

5\. The community has some of the worst gatekeeping I have ever seen from any culture group. If you want to fully be accepted within the culture group, you pretty much have to watch a shit load of anime and know everything about it.

6\. The community is some of the most sexually deviant communities within the fandom culture. People within the culture group frequently use the characters to fuel their sexual fantasies and they do so in public without any care.

7\. The community has an extreme consumer problem. They buy everything anime related they can get their hands on. People within the community buy figures, merch, dolls, anything you can think of. They also have the tendency to defend this behavior to anyone who complains.

8\. The community has an extreme otaku problem. People within the culture group have an obsession towards wanting to look (or act) like the characters in the anime they watch. This leads to people doing weird and crazy things to

Before I start I just want to say I understand my views on anime are different than most people's here. I got into it because of the culture/community, I don't really care about the shows themselves outside of stuff like To Your Eternity and Violet Evergarden. But I've come to realize that anime fans are not only insufferable to be around, but they are actively harmful to the art form they claim to love.

The obsession with hentai and pornography in general is the number one issue. I'm not talking about the sexualization of characters, that's a natural part of the medium, but the obsession with actual porn. You will hear people talking about how great this show is despite all the fanservice, then you look it up and you find that it's basically hentai with a story. Sure, some of these shows may have some nice animation and worldbuilding, but they'd be just as good and maybe even better if they were fully animated pornos. But to the average anime consumer, if there aren't any panty shots in the first couple of minutes they get bored and move on to something else.

The other day I watched an extremely popular series, and when one of the characters walked into a room the first thing I noticed was that her breasts were very obviously edited. The animation was bad in this scene, and on top of that they made her breasts slightly bigger and moved them slightly to the left. The reason for this was that the 3D model for this character was created with smaller breasts, and they didn't want to redo them for the anime (fair enough, it would be a lot of work) so they just edited them in the animation. This is something that is done all the time in anime and people will defend it, they will say it's for the story, or the animation would be too hard to do if they had bigger breasts. But the truth is it's just an excuse to show tits. This is something people will watch and enjoy, it is what the industry has come to.

This is an industry fueled by coomers who just want to see tits, it is run by people that don't care about the art form, they just want to make money. These people will continue to flood the industry, they will bring down quality with their low standards and their obsession with tits. For the last 15 years I've been watching a lot of anime. It started off with the classics like "Mars of destiny", "Gunsmith Cats" and "Vision of Escaflowne". It then moved on to "Hellsing", "Cowboy Bebop", "Samurai Champloo", "Cromartie Highschool" and "Last Exile". 

As the years went on I started watching more and more. I watched the entire Gundam catalogue (even Iron Blood Orphans), I watched the entire Naruto catalogue. I never really got around to watching the One Piece catalogue though, maybe I will some day. 

After that I watched some more modern stuff, but I don't really think that there have been any masterpieces released after 2011. I really liked "Tatami Galaxy", "Gurren Lagann" and "Hunter x Hunter". 

What made me stop watching was the live-action movies and shows. I guess my expectations might have been way too high after seeing GITS (as a starter) but I tried watching the new fullmetal alchemist live action movies and I couldn't take their shitty acting or the bad writing for more than half of it. Then I saw the live-action Lupin movies and they were so fucking bad that I had to stop watching altogether. 

I have also started reading more and more manga and I have to say that I enjoy that way more than watching the shows or movies. I read One Punch man last week and thought it was great. I'm reading "Vagabond" at the moment which is also great but kinda slow. 

I do now understand a lot of the things that people have been saying all along about anime. People have told me about this for years but all I did was say "Nope, I don't care". I also understand why some people say that anime has a negative effect on their life. With that being said I will continue to watch some anime that I really like. I will however not waste my time with mediocre anime that has been going strong the last 5 years or so. 

I will say this, I will never feel sorry for people that have watched too much anime. I think that people can choose how they want to spend their life and anyone that blames their own choices on what they have watched is just weak willed.

The whole point of gacha is not about the numbers but the chibi. I should be excited for the next pull and feel alive again like it's christmas. Not think "how many more rolls do I need?".

Gacha isn't something that should be spread out in time, that just gives time for things to get in the way and for it become a chore. Gacha should be enjoyed now, it's fun for a few hours at a time but it shouldn't be a lifestyle. 

It's not even the money, It's the mindset. I have been spending nearly 2k per day, but if I was making 400k a month I still would be pulling with the same mindset. That's the problem. I got a 9* and I was so depressed I couldn't care about anything else for days. It's not a good look.

I'm doing a mental reset and I want to be excited for the future. I don't know exactly what yet, but I just know I want to reach for the stars and I don't want to be the same.
