Everyone already is. I treat the notification page as "pseudo curated content via ping groups" and miss comment responses and other notifications entirely even when I do check it

Having "content curated by a group you're in" be considered the same as "this person is trying to get your attention in particular, or has replied to a comment you made" and "here is a system level notification" doesn't really work, as ping groups are hyper inflated

Which, you know, sure. Funny. If I didn't want that comment curated I would've left the ping group, but it massively overshadows the actual important content (ae, comment responses, direct @ mentions, etc).

Id agree with your European mentality if Ping groups were poor and tiny and irrelevant, but they've americanized and made themselves more relevant than everything else (to their detriment)
