Everyone already is. I treat the notification page as "pseudo curated content via ping groups" and miss comment responses and other notifications entirely even when I do check it :marseyshrug:

Having "content curated by a group you're in" be considered the same as "this person is trying to get your attention in particular, or has replied to a comment you made" and "here is a system level notification" doesn't really work, as ping groups are hyper inflated

Which, you know, sure. Funny. If I didn't want that comment curated I would've left the ping group, but it massively overshadows the actual important content (ae, comment responses, direct @ mentions, etc).

Id agree with your European mentality if Ping groups were poor and tiny and irrelevant, but they've americanized and made themselves more relevant than everything else (to their detriment) :marseysaluteusa:

Asides, most people don't ignore notifications unless they're the type to alr:marseyshrug:

Yeeeaaaah, my notifications are just a content feed. If I make comments that I actually want to see the replies to, then I go to my profile, click comments, and click context one by one to see them. You couldn't pay me to search through 9652 alerts for genuine reply notifications

having a tab for replies / actual notifications side by side with the tab for ping notifications would totally work. Scared of ppl not ever checking the ping tab? Make it load first and then make the second tab reply notifs.
