It’s obviously the USA but I support any muddying of the waters with r-slurred speculation that Russia chose to frick itself to… make Germany scared of the United States for some reason.
Pretty much everyone could have done this for various reasons.
Here are ones that make russia possible:
Russia already turned off Nord Stream 1 for different reasons. One was the repair of a turbine despite having a spare one at home, other times they turned it of because of not getting western money due to sanctions.
Attacking their own pipeline does NOT bring the NATO article 5 out, so its pretty safe
They still have pipelines through poland and ukraine that have enough capacity to get europe through the winter. If europe is willing
It stirs chaos among europoors, accusations right and left
Its a message that they can attack Norwegian gas pipes that were completed recently in the same vicinity.
Its a message that they could attack in escalation all kind of underwater cables and pipes. Getting Europe of the internet to america, getting important energy grids underwater down so black outs are possible. All kind of gas pipes down. They could "nuke" europe without a bomb
