MOSCOW, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Russia said on Thursday it was studying the possibility of a face-to-face meeting between Russian and U.S. negotiators on a landmark nuclear arms control treaty.

In a briefing in Moscow, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Russia was open to reviving inspections under the New START treaty and considering the possibility of in-person meetings of a joint commission of representatives from the United States and Russia.

Physical inspections under the treaty have been suspended since 2020, initially as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

"The topic of resuming them is being considered," Zakharova said on Thursday. "The possibilities for holding a face-to-face session of the bilateral advisory commission are being studied."

The treaty sets limits on the number of nuclear arms each side can have deployed, and outlines the terms for verification and inspection of each other's nuclear arsenals.

Moscow said in August it was considering a new meeting of the commission, as well as a possible resumption of negotiations to extend the treaty, one of the few major diplomatic agreements that remain in place between Moscow and Washington as relations hit rock-bottom over the conflict in Ukraine.

Why? So we can see more of their dilapidated maybe-functional nuclear missiles and they can see our incredibly Chad space flight capable nuclear BBCs?

It would be totally insane for the US to agree to any nuclear arms treaty unless it includes China. In fact, it's pretty insane that we aren't already on a massive rearmament program when we currently are at parity with Russia and China is soon going to have as many missiles as Russia does.

Neighbor we have enough nukes to end the world. Why would we need more. Unless missile defense systems seriously advance it's pointless.

Racism. The Anglo will never admit a chink is his equal in nuclear armament, so no Second Cold War.

Because a true Anglo knows that the only constants in this world are death, taxes and the Chinese lying to make themselves feel better.

Why do we need more missiles tho? Don't we have enough to cover the world a couple times over or is that out of date?

Under our treaties with Russia they've been cut to a fraction of what we had during the Cold War. We're only allowed 1,550 warheads which is really not that much considering how many places in the world we might need to nuke if shit gets real.

That still sounds like enough to really frick some stuff up, hitting all major cities outside the US would probably do it. Idk I guess it'd be a drop in the bucket but 1500 warheads would easily wipe out the biggest cities in every country

It's enough if you just want to kill a lot of people. But if you start counting all the enemy's airbases, naval bases, rail yards, etc. then it really starts adding up. And ideally what you'd really want to do is hit the enemy's missiles before they can fire, and that gives you a huge number of targets. Also the warheads we use these days are around 500kt so they aren't even enough to destroy a large city.

The pre-emptive strike is obsolete and has been for a while.

Detection systems are so advanced now that people can fire basically all of their missiles before impact.

Subs as well.

>that we aren't already on a massive rearmament program

Good thing Trump authorized full nuke inspection/repair back when he was beefing with Rocket Man

By the way China signed a nuke defense treaty with Ukraine so that’s already covered

Lack of LGBT clarity is hurting g*mers

Being a badass heckin Marvel hero is hard work.

As a queer person who's been gaming pretty much all her life, it's blatantly obvious to me just how scarce the kind of representation I want, perhaps need, is in video games.

Heres why that's problematic:

For the longest time, cisgender men have dominated the video game industry and have continued to be mistaken as the face of the entire gaming culture. This diversity problem not only prevents women g*mers from gaining visibility, but it also hampers the development of a safe and inclusive environment for other minorities in the gaming space, namely the LGBTQ+ community.

So why is it, that an "allegedly" progressive company like Marvel, who keeps shouting they're supportive of LGBT rights keeps us in COMPLETE DARKNESS when it comes to OUR REPRESENTATION? are there ANY LGBT characters to choose from? or are we left to wonder, ponder that we might be left out once again?

Why is there ZERO mention of the LGBTQIA+++ community during LITERAL pride month? HELLO MARVEL??????????

Will i be FORCED once more to play as a WHITE CIS male? why can't i be the badass g*mer i want to be with my OWN complex gender heckin expression ???

Solutions:

Show your COLOURS !! make a public announcement that you're PROUD to support the LGBTQA++ community in this game, because right now?

It's not enough.

G*mers are watching

Game on.

Fricking good, I don't really want to see humanity blow up on a nuclear Holocaust. Despite what you r-slurs here think, this is actually a good thing
