I reread it several times and I don't get it either. Where's the L for the US? Nobody knows for sure if they're involved directly or not (probably not as in CIA or Army Rangers are probably not on the ground like they were in Syria) so literally nothing looks like an L for us unless Russia wrecks the whole place despite our financial support, which is far from certain as a future outcome.
