GM temporarily suspends advertising on Twitter following Elon Musk takeover

Under CEO Mary Barra, the Detroit company was among the first automakers to announce billions of dollars in spending to better compete against Tesla regarding electric vehicles.

General Motors will create 4,000 new jobs and retaining 1,000, and significantly increasing battery cell and electric truck manufacturing capacity.

The future direction of Twitter has been at the center of Musk's takeover of the social media platform.

Musk also said in a statement to advertisers this week that he cannot let Twitter become a "free for all hellscape."

Musk has long boasted that Tesla does not pay for traditional advertising, a cost that has added up for traditional automakers' brands through the years.

It reported marketing, promotional and advertising costs that were immaterial for the years ended December 31, 2021, 2020 and 2019 in financial filings with the SEC.

Why don't all of these platforms just chud out and tell advertisers to take it or leave it? You don't want to advertise on our platforms because there are mean words? Have fun advertising your shitty products in newspapers no one buys :chudsey:

Look who runs them except Twitter.

I'm not even sure this is related to speech, it may be GM not trying to give money to a competitor (Musk and Tesla). GM isn't the wokest company out there.

It might hurt their ESG scores if they advertise on chud platforms :marseypearlclutch2:

Companies actually can't go full chud without risking law suits unfortunately. Being woke gets you a form of government Good Boy Points which you can use to avoid all sorts of legal drama.

The whole thing with facebook years ago being investigated for bad algorithms and behavior was due to having insufficient GBPs.

The GM situation here is closer to Wal-Mart choosing to not advertise in the Washington Post, given Musk's Tesla ownership.
