:marseychingchong:'s not having kids

https://www.scmp.com/economy/economic-indicators/article/3197997/taiwans-fertility-rate-set-become-worlds-lowest-2035-ticking-demographic-time-bomb-grows-louder

Article is about Taiwan but other East Asian countries like China, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan aren't much better. Why do :marseychingchong:'s hate kids, and why do :marseytunaktunak:'s love them?

It'll be interesting to see how Asia evolves over the next fifty plus years. My /h/the_ivory_tower :marseysmoothbrain: take is that some of these countries might end up guinea pigs for what happens when such a large chunk of the population is old and out of work. Western societies are looking at some of the same issues too.

The one child policy is kinda overstated with its effect. It didn't really apply much to rural tards and city people naturally have low 0.6-1.5 birthrates, and communist countries have typically have s-hit birthrates even while being s-hit poor.
