We didn't need a lab for the multiple 1300s bubonic plagues, or the 1918 great influenza.
Nobody claimed SARS-1 came from a lab. Covid-19 was a less deadly but more infectious version of SARS-1, and was also named SARS-2. We watched it mutate into several strains, because that's what viruses do.
You don't need a lab or human motivation for a global pandemic.

The Senate minority (entirely politically Republican) report said "we know that SARS-1 was definitively proven to be transmitted naturally from animals to humans, but we are making scientists prove it did again for Covid-19, because we think something fishy went on."
Believe me, I think we should end all commerce, cooperation, and communication with China and nuke them back to the stone age, but the discussion and beliefs around Covid got so r-slurredly political that you can point to any news/gov publication these days and guess their conclusion 100% of the time based on their party.
