I don’t remotely believe any news I see out of Russia and Ukraine rn. The ruble has taken 0 damage over the war some how.

This morning, Cum went to the park. I went with Coom. And Cum brought Coomer frisbee. At least I think it was Coomers. By the end of the day, Cum started throwing the frisbee to Cumself.

As the tweet says, its dropped 20% in the last few weeks, hence why everyone is trying to pull their money out of the banks.

It dropped 40% in Feb and recovered.

By using incredibly desperate one-time free lunches that anyone who passed econ 101 knew was bad in the long term. Big surprise that robbing your own citizens of the ability to even use their own money would shake confidence

They didn't in February either as there was a bank run then too. And then a mini-one in July over worries of Central Bank takeover.

Russia is a country that has always lived below its means.

The russians who are affected by this crash are those who could afford western products or trips abroad in the first place. Those guys have either fricked off of Russia or killed themselves (or by the good graces of the government).

The average russian never hopes of buying a mercedes or fr*nch brand clothings. They never felt the first crash in the first place because it shut doors they couldnt open anyway.

You're vastly underestimating how important the USD/Ruble exchange is to even the poorest Russian. Russia imports a lot of goods and has pretty much zero electronic manufacturing. If the Ruble drops by half it's value then it means everything imported doubles in value. This has effected poor Russians the worst and Ukraine isn't even the start of it, they've been bearing the brunt of these massive drops for over a decade because of putin's autism.

Bro, theres like a fifth of the Russian that's still (or fell back to) pooping in an outhouse.

Random russians of the Moscow ring and St Petersburg are gonna suffer hard, sure. But im talking about the towns east of Nizny Novgorod, where the administration is still paper printed, full of decrepit panelkas that should have been bulldozed 25 years ago, and every night you sleep in is a gambit, whose inhabitants still use vans that might as well fall apart mid-drive.

This is not me praising russian resilience, im deploring how those towns never left ground zero since the implosion of USSR. They never gained anything during the Putin era.

It's no mystery, the ruble doesn't operate in a free market. After the first wave of sanctions hit, Russia required all gas payments to be made in rubles. A bunch of nations took them up on this, including China and I think India too. If you're a business in Russia and you're paid in a non-RUB currency you have to convert 80% of it to RUB. This was pretty smart in terms of owning the Westoids by making the ruble look strong, but it's coming back to bite them now because a strong currency comes with a bunch of downsides, especially when the number of countries that'll accept it at the market rate is small.

Good choice, apparently Russia is isolated enough to have to buy Iranian drones, even the Chinese are not on board, so the ruble is just a Jim(SitCom)-bucks thing right now. No exchange. The ruble must be some sort of zombie right now?

Excuse me but you need to stop noticing the constant slew of psyops about the internal state of Russia. It's not allowed.
