Had a friend who worked at a vet office briefly, but only in reception. It's an awful field, the pay is incredibly low. Veterinarians stay in school almost as long as doctors but the pay is way lower. A vet tech makes like $2 above minimum and does the work of a nurse but also gets routinely yelled at by clients.
It's not in the book of trades or whatever, so there are no federal pay grades.

There's actually a huge shortage of techs but all the doctors basically refuse to pay more than going rate
