In order to show those evil chuds how backwards they are, Governor Pritzker signed legislation introducing an Immigrant Bill of Rights in Illinois, a move that was praised by Chicago legislators.
https://www.illinois.gov/news/press-release.23653.html
"Wait, I didn't think you'd actually send immigrants here! They're supposed to stay down there!," say those legislators as Chicago recently bans unannounced migrant drop offs.

It really is. I can't even fault Texas for doing it, because they've been dealing with these same problems for years. Now these smug sanctuary city people can have a taste of it.

They could, but that would involve trying to stop it on a countrywide level instead of virtue signalling while it's only the other side's problem.
Basically, they'd have to stop being smug buttholes, concede their opponents have a point, and do something against their base's luxury beliefs. Which they'll never do, but it doesn't mean they can't.

This is a good thing. People are complaining about high prices - so extra wagies are here to reduce inflation.
Why is there so much complaining? These cities, ideally, should be recieving money from the federal government to help feed and integrate these migrants into jobs but sadly no.
Congress should pass guest worker legislation and agreements with various Latinx countries, but sadly chuds exist.

How does this even work?

There's so much fricking drama around this it could easily be an effortpost but I'm lazy.
Anyways basically the city passed an ordinance about certain types of bus dropoffs. The rule is something like you need to clear with the city some days in advance when you're dropping people off for any inter-city bus, and the city has designated sites where you're allowed to drop people. They have some carve-outs like if the company does regular service (ie Greyhound) then they're exempt. I don't remember all the details but I think they've limited the "slots" to 2 busses per day at a specific location or something like that. The whole thing is basically a backhanded way for the city to try to criminalize the bus companies that are being chartered to bring people here.
The city has already sued a bunch of companies but at least one company is countersuing the city, basically claiming that the city ordinance is unconstistutional, something about freedom of movement being violated.
For some more background though, Chicago gets REALLY cold in winter, and we had a big surge of migrants (nothing like TX but big for Chicago). Our new mayor is literally incompetent (he's unironically a shill for the teachers union, as in literally on their payroll as a "consultant") and didn't get anything setup for them. The city actually signed an expensive lease on a lot they planned to turn into a tent city but the state did an inspection and declared the site unviable because the soil was contaminated so they basically fricked the city from using it, but the city already signed the lease so now we have to pay for the land that we can't even use, all because our mayor's office didn't know about the environmental regs (they're literally r-slurred I'm not kidding). Oh and some stuff about the person who sold them the lease having connections with politicians, same with the extraordinarily expensive tents we're renting.
Which is kinda besides the point because trying to maintain a tent city when it's fricking 0F outside is r-slurred.
Anyways I'm sure I've missed some stuff. Hopefully the other chiraqis can chime in here.

Jump in the discussion.

I actually sympathize with the poor blacks on this one. Suddenly there's tons of funding for housing and services when they've been begging for scraps for decades. Even better, the city seems to be mostly setting up these tent cities in poor areas since that's where it's cheapest, so the local residents are even MORE pissed off.

It doesn't. they'll just drop them off at a train station outside the city, thus complying with this law. Which is on very questionable legal ground since you have a constitutional right to freely move about the US. Edwards v. california, saenz v. roe and shapiro v. thompson. Pretty solidly established.

So it's illegal for immigrants to show up unannounced in Chicago? Would be a shame if an extensive transportation network were developed to help them do it anyway.

so what they've been telling us is that they're banning "unannounced" drop offs because the busses would just leave 50 venezuelans on a freezing cold night in the ghetto, i guess they have to coordinate with the city somehow? What they started doing instead was dropping them off in rich suburbs with tickets for the commuter rail to get into town.
Stuffs crazy here, we're starting to see black people demanding we end the sanctuary city status. Its going to be a half a race war by election season

Check the map for the train stop. That's in Rosemont. It has a parking lot big enough for several busses.
Right next to it is O'Hare Airport, which is in Chicago and is conveniently already being used to shelter migrants. Rosemont PD can just control traffic for a second so they can walk across the street into the promised sanctuary.
