Did you know BC had a ban on nuclear energy? And they, along with other hydro generating provinces, are going into a drought. It is the perfect time to switch from gas heated appliances to electric, basically.

I love how all the politicos want us to switch to electric cars, electric heat but are making no commitment to building new hydro dams or nuke plants - moving us all onto the poorly managed public utility grid that has absolutely zero free market competition. I can't see anything going wrong when we depend on it completely and for everything.

No joke parts of the grid I'm on date back to the early 1900s. The sheer amount of work needed to supply everyone with enough power to charge their cars and heat their homes is insane.
On street parkingcels can get fricked, I guess. Have fun waiting for hours at the chargers before and after work.

No they fricking won't. Everyone with an EV plugs it in the moment they get home, the grid is absolutely going to fall to its knees from everyone charging at around the same time.

California is already having problems with this.
I can't imagine what it's going to be like on a cold monday evening in the winter, -20c and 630pm when everyone comes home and plugs their car in and turns the thermostats up.
