Yeah, I have to laugh about this one. Evergrande was not 'too big to fail', so a bunch of greedy Western hedge funds got caught with their pants down. It's like they forgot China is a Communist country, and the party is not interested in making you rich, Western dogs. I don't know enough about the internal politics of China but I imagine this is also intended to send a signal to other rich Chinese entrepreneurs: remember who is the boss of you, don't imagine you can just grow too big and fat to be controlled.
