Implementing a national $26 minimum wage would immediately put most small businesses out of business. A lot of people who would hold min wage jobs would be left unemployed. And companies that could handle paying their employees more due to high customer demand (groceries, certain restaurants) would have to raise prices significantly.
The answer is for people to rise beyond minimum wage work suitable only for high schoolers.
