His solution to to being told hormones could be killing him was to switch hospitals to one that let him continue doing whatever he wanted, while saying kidney and hormones have no connection

We didn't have any established sense that being on hormones would be problematic. The hormones are not processed through the kidneys. So there was nothing that made it [necessary to stop them], but that was the first thing that was done,” he said

Then later in the article it says there's multiple ongoing studies looking into issues with the liver damage and high hormone doses, among a bunch of other issues
