WTF? 30 million people have insane interest rates or have been paying for 20 years?????

How is that not a wake up call that the problem is systemic and needs a permanent fix and not a temporary one? Black people being arrested for shooting out of car windows is a systemic problem but this isn't?

Because the way to end it is to make these loans dischargeable so that banks are less willing to give them as well as lower how much the federal government will give you.

Once the money stops schools will find ways to cut their insane costs. (Like currently they hire full time faculty members to plan parties and such)

Unfortunately the optics on this are bad as it will hurt poor people in the short run and banks in the long run.

and state university employees will screech endlessly. They lost their minds during the 2008 downturn and claimed any cuts were unethical.

Schools already did some nasty cuts during covid, the employees will just get used to it.
