She has pierced eyebrows at age 16, so clearly the problem wasn't overly strict parenting. Probably the opposite...
I should also note that her dad was originally named "Dharma", because he was born to a hippie who fled to Canada to avoid the Vietnam war draft. I believe that's what sociologists call "generational trauma".

For me "generational trauma" was when I didn't want to clean something and my dad flipped out and started screaming about the first sergeant of the 2/17th Cav who ordered a foot locker inspection and some r-slurred psycho fragged him over it.
So yeah, generational trauma is a real thing. It's stuff that your r-slurred white b-word mother wasn't trusted with knowing about and now it all gets dumped on you. And you have to be like the guy in In A Mood for Love and whisper it into a hole in a Buddhist temple where it will be forgotten.

Cav scouts are 100% r-slurs, and I'm certain your dad's 1SGT got what he had coming. I was communications and had a buddy who ended up in scouts. He suffered a neck injury during combative straining when someone fricking piledrived him or sone shit. They probably approach marine levels of r-sluration.
