In case you're too lazy to click the links, I'll give you a stitched-together summary...
The Chicago Park District on Saturday morning said Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park will be closed "until further notice," after it was vandalized by protesters overnight. The protesters dyed the water in the fountain red, and spray-painted the bricks on the surrounding plaza.
The messages, "Gaza is bleeding," and, "Stop genocide," were also scrawled on the plaza in front of the fountain. The messages have since been removed.
Staff said the vandalism happened sometime after 11 p.m., after the fountain was turned off for the night. Whatever red substance was used spread gradually throughout the water surrounding the fountain. As of late Saturday afternoon, they had drained the water about halfway. But they said every time they put clean water in, the water has stayed so opaque that they believe whatever was used to color the water is still too strong to dilute. Staff said while the red substance does not appear to be staining, they were nonetheless concerned it could permanently damage the fountain, so they made the decision to keep the fountain turned off until the issue is resolved. A staff member said he gave a water sample to the Park District environmental team, but there was no word on what specifically caused the color change as of Saturday afternoon.
Chicago Police said no arrests were made, and no injuries were reported.
On one hand, yet another r-slurred "protest piece" in which butthurt leftoids damage public property with paint and other colorful cowtools because CURRENT THING dictates that a nation defending itself from bloodthirsty terrorists who would not hesitate to kill and r*pe innocent people en masse constructs "genocide" worth protesting over (in the most useless and pathetic manner that helps nobody who actually needs aid)...but with that being said, seeing a fountain shooting red water like it's blood is pretty fricking sick and hardcore, so at least that's one positive here
!chiraqis did you hear the news? Perhaps even took a pic? Show me!!!
