It's not “freedom” the hicks are protesting against. Having a grocery store or bank 15 minute from your house isn't “oppressive”.
It's just dumb rednecks still angry about vaccine mandates and projecting that on urban planning.
The city is facing massive immigration from Trudeau, so rezoning is necessary to weather it.
