Open-source intelligence analysts reported that Crooks didn't appear to use mainstream social media channels such as Facebook or Instagram and had an almost negligible internet footprint, which is highly unusual for a 20-year-old. Instead, analysts said that Crooks corresponded with friends and associates on a Groomercord server that they were now trying to access.
Groomercord servers are restricted ring-fenced sections of the internet. They are often used by gaming groups and communities as secure chat rooms but are also used by fringe organisations to push their ideologies and discuss wild conspiracy theories and plots.
Poor little dude never stood a chance.

By the way !metashit I don't know what ping group to use, but there is a video of Thomas Crooks at school where he talks (timestamp: 0:26), and the video on Facebook looks higher quality than the video I've been able to download using online cowtools. Does Facebook use fancy upscaling magic, or is there a way to download the better video?

Imagine it was just some last minute spergout. Since he used his dads gun, not like he had his own. But apparently he had bombs? So that shows some planning. But who knows, he might have had some other spergout in mind and then heard last week Orange man would be there and just went for it.

he was a smart kid who topped out in math in high school, then ended up working as a nurse at some random medical facility while stile living at home in suburban Butler PA. He spent all of his time gaming. Dude probably just felt hopeless or something and decided to go out the most dramatic way possible.
His dad was libertarian, mom democrat, so he was probably not a huge fan of Trump.
