Term limits in theory are not a bad idea, having a judge sit on the bench until literal death isn't great. But yeah, there is no solid-gold guarantee that this means either party can just kick off the appointees of their rivals and put their own picks in. There are going to be times when the Democrats are in power and it's time for a conservative judge to leave, or the Republicans are in power and a liberal judge's time is up.
Doing important things like this just as a panic move for vote-grabbing is dumb shit.
