Fake and straight. Demanding someone do something is heckin r*pe, and screaming is very triggering. The brave and stronk womyn instructor would kindly ask in a low voice if it might be ok if the cadet could maybe try to do some pushups, doesn't matter what kind, how well or how many, if xhey feel like it, and if they don't that's ok and her feelings are very valid!
