Yellowstone erupting would wreck North America permanently (basically an American apocalypse) but it would also kill hundreds of millions around the globe.
Volcano eruptions dump sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, a supervolcano eruption would dump a massive amount. The sulfur dioxide would then reflect sunlight dimming the atmosphere for years of maybe decades killing crops and reducing global temperatures.
