It's pretty amazing the mental gymnastics you see in the papers that argue against phytoestrogens (particularly genistein and daidzein, from soya) having effects on men. Animal studies are suddenly unreliable, even though they will reference the same animal models to talk about saturated fat causing heart disease, longitudinal studies are all confounded, and the theory is "right-wing" so it must be false (the theory is right-wing only because the people who don't like it are often vegans). I've read several papers that argue against the phytoestrogen-ED connection, checked the citations, and found that they're misreferencing key assertions. It's one of the rabbit holes that made me start thinking twice about any politically charged research. If a scientist starts rambling about the political affiliations of the people they disagree with they are immediately suspect.

Nobody disputes that alcohol messes your peepee up![:tayshrug: :tayshrug:](https://i.rdrama.net/e/tayshrug.webp)
This is not properly xenoestrogen activity; ethanol upregulates the conversion of testosterone to endogenous estrogen. Like the soy thing, it's probably not a major problem in small amounts, but it's real.
