The idea that HCOL areas can make top 20% income earners essentially poor is low-key a HUGE issue among the online left : stupidpol

That's because a disproportionate number of redditors live in Greater Boston, the worst expensive city in America in the worst expensive state in America, and they have children which makes them poor because no one lives in Massachusetts if they don't have children to go to the schools, and they realize that that shit condo they bought for half a million cost 100k a decade ago and several of their neighbors have been their since then, and are poor. Everything in Boston is designed to humiliate and infuriate you because the white trash republican working class runs the city day to day operations and hates the elite liberal academics.
