They don't need to. The government can and will most likely force them back to work. Basically only government employees like teachers can truly strike in Canada because of some master and servant laws that are a hold over from the UK.

That just invokes binding arbitration between the union and companies. The companies know and bet on this.

Who knows though maybe the Teamsters gift to the Liberal party with the CP strike/ lock out a couple years ago means the Liberal party will pay the debt but I highly doubt that.

They had the company bent over and basically invoked the binding arbitration themselves to some would say help the Liberal party so they didn't need to choose between pissing off labour voters and fricking the economy during covid.

All so if you believ the rumors the conservatives wouldn't get in who are more likely to force back to work, which invokes binding arbitration, which the Teamsters volunteered for so they wouldn't need to face binding arbitration by a conservative gov. Doesn't make much sense but payoffs.

Now they are hoping the libs don't with both companies on strike at once and it won't be like the Liberals second time doing it recently because they volunteered for it last time. Apparently they have a war chest though to pay like the thousand dollars per day fines per member if the gov forces back to work and they refuse.
