The "women attempt more" is so r-slurred when most of the datasets count raw attempts rather than people and include things like regular self harm as an attempt. No shit they're going to have more attempts if they don't die after the first one.

The amount of games that get played to make it sound like women are the primary victims of suicide is unironically insane.
If you read that Guardian article in /r/science, you'd be forgiven for leaving with the impression that female doctors are more likely to kill themselves than male doctors (they're not, read the thread).
Serious suicide attempts get lumped in with self-harm and parasuicide (aka
), and as you say, a foid may get counted multiple times when a successful moid will not.
And when all that fails they just say, well duh, men are more violent, women don't want to leave a mess, etc.
The easiest way to cut through it all is to just look at individual methods:

Either foids are stupid, or they want to die less. Maybe they're more likely to feel that there's help out there and taking a few too many pills is the way to get it. Maybe they're right.
But however you slice it, men are the ones actually dying and "but look at all the women who aren't dying" is pure whataboutery and !feminists told me that is bad.
