The Supreme Federal Tribunal decided to cater to Musk's childish play and give him what he wanted. X will get suspended (as if Musk gave a frick about that, he's trying to get it suspended to make a point), meanwhile the Municipal elections are in October, so this decision will further erode the little trust the general public has in the judiciary even more while wingcucks will suck Moraes peepee as if he were some fatherland savior. The STF also froze Starlink's assets in Brazil to pay for X fines.
Either way this is a good thing, now how will Brazilian leftoids do their campaign without their favorite social media?

I'm at a loss for what's going on here.
Are they suspending X over "misinformation" or something like that? Or they fined X for misinformation, but X refused to pay, so they're going to ban X but also seize a totally different company's assets (Starlink) to pay for the arbitrary fines?
It does seem r-slurred. Surely this just signals to companies that it's not safe to operate in Brazil, right?

Moraes ordered X to take down some heckin "misinformation" and to ban some Bolsonarist accounts and Musk refused. After a series of slapfights Musk shut down X office in Brazil.
The law in Brazil says any foreign company operating in the country must have a local office, so he sent Musk a subpoena (basically "serving" him) on twitter lol. Musk replied with a meme so Moraes said it is considered delivered and read.
The subpoena was a warning for Musk to present himself, otherwise X would be suspended within 24 hours.
Yes, because as X can't pay then another of Musk's companies will.
@BrasilIguana I honestly don't understand how that's even legal. Is the law really that shitty?

Is this actually legal there?
Because it would be comically illegal here in the US. You absolutely could NOT seize the assets of a different company like that. Seems like a clown world way to run a country if random business assets can be seized because somebody who owns part of that business also owns part of some other business and that other business owes fines.
I guess I'm curious if this is a case of Brazilian law being actually r-slurred or a case of the judge vastly overstepping his authority.

Technically Moraes blocked Starlink assets as a guarantee to force X pay the fines. Yes, this shit is legal and
I'm not a lawcel and I just figured that out today.
However Moraes does regularly overstep his already overpowered position.
There are instances of him personally convicting people for making threats to him. While this is "legal", his colleagues on the STF and other lawcels claimed it created a conflict of interest and that any serious threat made against him should be delegated to another justice.
The STF is not a mere appeal and constitutional court like SCOTUS, they can issue arrest warrants, take you to trial and convict you for federal crimes and individual justices can take decisions without voting as a group with their colleagues. And their convictions are not appealable due to them being the highest court in the country.

wait, so there are multiple "top judges" and they can each rule on cases without the others and their decisions are final and cannot be appealed?
hahahahhaha holy shit that's really funny what a meme legal system

Individual decisions can be reversed by the "plenário" that is all justices together, there are 11 justices in total (appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, they serve until reaching a retirement age of 75), they will typically rule on big decisions as a group and discuss their individual decisions beforehand. But they always defend each so as not to undermine their "colleagues". Moraes was also served as President of the TSE (Superior Electoral Tribunal) during the 2022 elections, that means he was in charge of the election as was given power to take down "misinformation" content and accounts from social media and arrest people spreading "fake news".
I honestly find Moraes the most disgusting and despicable person in the government, he was appointed by a rightoid (Temer) but he's pretty much a loose canon with an authoritarian complex. I have more respect for Lula's sycophants than him.
Speaking on the latter, Lula appointed one of his personal lawyers as a STF justice last year , can you imagine Trump appointing Giuliani or Cohen to SCOTUS?

Since Musk owns both companies, the law understands he cant "hide" by shifting all his assets into one company
This is a shitty explanation but it's the gist of it

Does he own them? Are they not seperate LLC?

We don't have LLCs per se over here, but it would be trivial to show how Musk runs/oversees/owns both companies, you can put them through a million shell companies but nobody would dispute who's the actual owner

A Starlink é uma subsidiária da SpaceX que veria a ser uma Sociedade Anônima com capital fechado. O Musk não é dono de 100% da SpaceX, porem ele tem mais de 50% das ações.

Do you think that Xitter getting blocked would pretty much mean that the leftoids will lose the 2026 election?

I'm not convinced Tarcisio can beat Lula, regardless of Xitter.

Even if he doesn't (according to @BrasilIguana and other lawcels he can't run again for two-consecutive terms so a Lula candidacy will be contested in the STF), Brazilian politics will be Lulismo vs Bolsonarism until that couple of old-farts die.

Rightoid: either Tarcísio de Freitas, Zema or Michelle Bolsonaro
Leftoid: either Lula (if not contested), Haddad or some PT clown (I don't think Gleisi Hoffman would dare).
