I worked at Canadian Tire for a summer during university and it's probably the worst job I've ever had. It is kind of sad that new generations of Canadian students won't get the crappy tire experience though.

I don't really know how to explain Canadian Tire to a non-Canadian, it's such a weird store. It's like a big box store for poor people that also sells knockoff cowtools that would be absolute bottom of the barrel at Harbor Freight, and it has a shitty mechanic shop attached to it. I think they even have groceries now.

The thing is, as much as Canadian Tire sucks, it's such an awesome store. They stock the weirdest shit, and when they can't sell that weird shit, they put it on sale for like 90% off and sell it at a massive loss. It's one of my favorite stores to just wander around in.

@pizzashill you would probably love it tbh.

10 years ago I was looking for a cheap bicycle tire pump.it broke and I took it back within the hour.

Instead of buying another manual pump, I grabbed a small-tank electric jobbie (with accessories) priced at $120. When I was walking up to the checkout, the cute customer service girl yelled for me to come over to the CS desk. She "price matched" it on her computer and I walked out after paying $58 because they were on sale for that at another CT store across town.

I'm not sure if she was hitting on me, or just was being nice.

My friend worked there for years and used to tell me all about it.
