MUUH SOBERANÍA
LATAM leftoids use "sovereignty" as a buzzword for protectionism and self-reliance. They're obsessed with achieving it even if it means making the country poorer because the industry or branch of the agricultural sector they prop can't survive the market without heavy tariffs and subsidies.
Another r-slurred thing Mexico's government did was banning GMO corn, again because of "muh soberanía" and to protect the heckin 300 species of corn which are low-yielding and can't feed the entire country and whose farmers will rely on subsidies.
