New AutoMotive estimates that Ford could be 7,000 cars short of its ZEV target. With fines of £15,000 for every car short of the target that would leave it notionally with a bill of more than £100 million.
The law:
The United Kingdom's Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate requires car manufacturers to ensure that a specified percentage of their new vehicle sales are zero-emission vehicles, primarily electric vehicles (EVs).
Manufacturers must meet increasing annual targets for zero-emission vehicle sales. For instance, in 2024, 22% of a manufacturer's new car sales must be zero-emission vehicles. This target is set to rise progressively, reaching 80% by 2030 and 100% by 2035

Its practically true for the UK because we closed all of our coal plants (despite KING COALs natural home being on the island built on the best coal deposits on Earth) so we buy France's carbon free nuclear power.
