Coco Gauff is the one the media has been trying to hype as the next Serena Williams since she won the US Open a couple years ago. The problem is, she's nowhere near that dominant. She's never even been ranked No. 1. Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Świątek are both clearly better players than Gauff. Sure, it's possible that Gauff will surpass them at some point, but thus far, it's pretty clear the comparison to Williams has more to do with them both being Black women from America than anything.
