No rational country will fully align themselves with the United States for decades after this. Why should they? At least with China, you have some semblance of consistent policy you can rely on year after year. America is flirting with the annexation of its closest ally.

One thing I don't get is why he wants to make Canada the "51st state", when actually the average population of a US state is about 6.7 million.
Surely that should mean Canada should become the 51st, 52nd, 53rd, 54th, 55th, and possibly 56th states (or more, if the US absorbs every province individually). Why would a nation of 40 million people accept only two senators in the upper house when they could get 8 or more?
