we're about to witness 1995 again lol. for those unaware, 1995 was considered the conservative revolution led by newt gingrich, where conservatives for the first time in a long time were gaining ground in congress. the problem is they did this by pretending they weren't going to gut social safety nets (or the people voting for them, as usual, didn't actually know what they stood for.)
new gingrich was routed and absolutely fricking dunked by bill Clinton on social security and ended up being exiled from mainstream republican politics. then along comes Bush with his "compassionate" conservatism as a response to the GOP brand becoming toxic after they attacked healthcare and social security.
conservatives always do better when people aren't reminded what they stand for, once they're in power and actually try to put into place conservative policy the backlash starts, as most people, even rural voters enjoy their government programs.
The depression is already baked into the cake, as I have been saying for at least a year, here. The press is going to start reporting on it in a few weeks.

I'm about a decade too young to have lived this, but to be a young adult in a big city in 2006 must have been great. Rent is still cheap, you are going to graduate college next year, Eminem has 3 of the top 10 singles, and your dad is only 4 years away from getting his pension at a GM glass supplier. You turn on Comedy Central on a 21" CRT TV, take a big bong rip, and watch Jon Stewart rip apart W. The war on Iraq is the worst thing on earth, and the things you believe are correct. It's all going to get better from here, and the future is bright.
