With new reportmaxxing opportunities available now, youโd probably have a better shot at banning /u/AnnArchist than cryposting to the admins. That guy was always kind of a cute twink though.

He was cooler than the other jannies though, literally all of them were massive cute twinks who brought nothing positive to /r/drama. He should have purged them and replaced em with randoms tbh, would have been hilarious.

I don't think that's true. Joan, JustCool, Snally, ComedicSans and others helped grow /r/drama enormously from what I've heard, and added their own flavours/styles to /r/drama while AnnArchist did little (or very little) in comparison.
However @AnnArchist has a redeeming feature which I adore: She (he?) was anti-censorship, super non-partisan (at least in action) and generally hands off. Those aren't attributes you can usually ascribe to a janny. Maybe the others had these qualities too, but we know for sure that Ann did. And she picked decent jannies to MAKE /r/drama what it was, which in turn ultimately resulted in rdrama.net. Ultimately, /r/drama turned out quite well, and that's because there was someone at the top who WASN'T messing things up.
AFAIK, she didn't even try to boot the jannies after the attempted takeover was over?

I was there way back since golden age SRD. All of the people you mentioned, even snally, were all massive cute twinks who treated the place like their friend simulator like all the other pathetic reddit janitors they make fun of. They sincerely didn't do much back then, it's not like this site where the jannies actually bring new content and features regularly. Their main concern was not getting banned by the admins, which only resulted in /r/drama ending up in it's current pathetic state. Their biggest contribution was creating a dumb poweruser culture where nolife attention seekers made a significant portion of the content which was neither dramatic nor funny. They'd always seethe about "agendaposting" but agendaposting was responsible for some of the sub's best posts and comments, while powerusers brought their boring little irc/groomercord spats that no one could relate to.

Don't you dare insult Lawlz like that.
Perhaps there's some truth to that, and that's why I said Ann was super non-partisan / hands-off. Can't be sure the other jannies weren't though as such posts weren't usually censored.

Lawlz was perhaps the prime example of what I was talking about. He was a sometimes funny commenter who had one of the greatest moments in /r/drama history, but the posts centered around him were extremely gay and not very interesting.

They literally said to us in a voice call that they'd just replace the mod team with ones that would enforce the rules if we didn't comply, which meant powerjannies who cry about people using the word "crazy"
They essentially refused to ban the subreddit because I guess some admins were casual readers. If we'd essentially let the sub die like that, rdrama.net wouldn't exist

/r/drama under the guidance of Bardfinn would've been an interesting art project.

Yeah that was the thing we didn't want because we all knew that the second all of us were y'alled from the mod team it was be Bard or another terminally online weirdo who would essentially perform a takeover and nuking of the sub. Lots of powerjannies, for whatever reason, wanted to be on /r/Drama's mod team as a I guess... status symbol? It was weird.

They actually zoom with mod teams? I always thought the relationship was more removed than that.
Did they mention which admins? I feel like we could start some drama with that.

this was before zoom was a thing, this was back in like 2018 or 2019 or something. we talked in a private groomercord channel. we had two voice calls (with red and sody) and i kinda forgot what we talked about. i know at least one of the mods that was talking was audibly wasted lol
at some point they kinda just gave up communicating in any appreciable fashion though to, from what I've heard, pretty much every mod team, not just us.
and we could kinda tell that it's a lot more one sided now.
there were 2 voice calls we had, and we joked about them being our handlers.
they didn't mention which admins, but we know there's at least one from when they gave an 80 day ban award to @pizzashill and i got the impression that red and sody occasionally read the sub too

Is there a scenario where if rdrama.net stays down for a long period of time, /r/drama comes back temporarily?

Lol he wanted to ban cnn.com from being posted to /r/Drama because he was butthurt back when the whole CNN vs MAGA kid thing happened
Because the admins basically watch the sub like a hawk since they were casual readers

Haha, that's a bit pathetic, but it's one thing to be partisan about the occasional mainstream news story being posted. It's quite another to control the conversation itself and censor (or ban) users because they don't fit the janny's favourite viewpoints. Anyway, noted!
Maybe. Ann still picked the mods in the first place though. And he/she could have still very subtly fired one or two of his least favourites off after a couple of months had passed and blamed it on other made up things.

To be fair to Ann though, like a few faux pas or partisan things in like 10 years of the sub isn't bad and we all made up afterward. We're all human after all lol
He essentially did that by not giving back the permissions admins took away from Jr.
Story goes is that Ann had the sub name for a while (via RR), then Jr got exiled from SRD (he was an SRD mod) when they added the no personal attacks rule (yeah you used to be able to do that) and so he asked Ann to be added to /r/Drama and from there created that community. While technically the sub is older than SRD, it was basically full of spam beforehand

In all seriousness this is the truth. If it wasn't for the shithead admins /r/drama would continue to be one of the few worthwhile subreddits on that hellhole site.
And even though it's just emoji shitposting now it's still better than most of the rest of the site tbh
