I’m actually very much in agreement. Why would you live in the suburbs, with all the disadvantages of being rural and none of the perks? Same for the urban aspect. You still have crime and housing is still very expensive. And you can’t have project cars on your lawn since the HOA says no, so you have to just buy a family sedan. Then the HOA measures the shade of green your lawn is and takes your house away over it so you just become homeless.
If I’m gonna deal with crime and homeless people and being told what to do, I am goddarn well going to be able to walk to a nice restaurant and if I can’t have a car, I’m going to have functional public transport. I’d prefer to be rural all the same.
That’s my view on it.

Absolutely correct. I have nothing against people wanting to live far away from everything. Heck, most urban people want to get away on occasion at least. It's this faux nature (manicured lawns), that suburbanoids tied to their shitty SUV for everything they could possibly ever want, which annoys the shit out of me. Massive investment for zero productivity.

You can live in the suburbs and not have to deal with HOA nonsense, that's mostly self inflicted and my impression is they're getting less popular, most new developments don't have them when I was house shopping.
Being jammed up against your neighbors is the main downsides tbh, it's giving me that rural itch but not so bad it's worth moving.

HOAs are just away of leining BIPOCs who move in unaware out of your neighborhood. I get why people dont like em, i personally wouldnt want to live under one, but if you have to live in an area thats diverse, it's the best way to do it.

There's 0 risk of home invasion in either subs or rural life which tbh is most of what matters, but rural life is fricking annoying with having to use a PO box because of everyone stealing your fricking mail. The people are way more down to earth tho so yeah rural > all.
