It was supposed to be one of the many offshoots of ardrama considering it was a huge subreddit with something like five hundred thousand followers (500,000) but it ended up shutting down in a matter of months just to never come back. Why is it that all the reddit offshoots end up shutting down or never coming to be their own thing because the mods are incompetent or just lazy?

Come celebrate the greatest and worst moments of /r/drama's, rdrama's and the rest of the dramasphere's long herstory. Oldstrag and don't see a legendary rdrama moment in the museum? Problem was that the original sites also kept going in conjunction with the offsite. All the cases where the offsite has been successful (here, wpd and themotte.org) were ones where the Reddit version effectively shut itself down in conjunction with the offsite going up. This funnels users to the offsite and stops them from going back to reddit permanently without losing their fix.
It's absolutely critical to do this or else you're setting yourself up for failure before you even start.
