It depends on how free jazz you want to get. 1963 will go more normal, 1966 will get more crazy...but I think you need to know what you're listening to, also.

What are the best digital remasterings of each of his respective studio albums? I will not buy any physical records under any circumstances.

It's hard to say. Something like "Live at the Village Vanguard" (1963) just seems very good, yet I used to listen to a lot of shittier recordings.
