Dude has crazy stage presence. I saw him like four or five years ago at some punk dive where people hadn't been paying much attention to the acts all night, and he got the whole place to shut up and listen to him just standing there and playing a guitar by himself. I really appreciate people who are clearly serious talents but opt to squander their abilities on something goofy like horrorpunk.
Which band did you go there to see? I found him as he seems to be folk punk/ folk punk adjacent? And ugly dudes singing offkey with acoustic guitars is kinda my jam.
If you like Violent Femmes and the horror movie schtick, you should try Harley Poe.
I don't really like heroin/squattercore folk punk Days N Daze or Johnny Hobo or whathaveyou, but there's a group called Holy Locust that used to put out music as Nomad Mountain Outlaws that makes pretty good tunes with some old time music and east european influences and really doomy, apocalyptic lyrics.
Super appreciative of all the new music to check out.
Those Harley Poe songs are giving me Mountain Goats vibes. But it's funny you brought up Johnny Hobo as he's the one who drew me into the scene, but after you lose someone to drugs his songs kind of lose their jovialness.

I randomly saw Amigo the Devil as the opening act for a different band having no idea who he was. Been a fan ever since.
