But what is the Fourier Transform? A visual introduction.

3blue1brown is arguably the math GOAT on youtube. He covers a wide variety of topics in an accessible manner but his video on the Fourier Transform is one of my favorites. Going through it step by step visually makes it loads easier to understand how it all works.

I remember it blew my mind when I realized that you could treat R->R functions as vectors in an infinite-dimensional vector space and a lot of linear algebra concepts like inner products are still meaningful.

His linear algebra series is definitely one of the best explanations on the subject, especially when it comes to matrices and explaining vector rotation and linear span.

3b1b is an r-slured gigaBIPOC and should not be making those videos :marseyindignant:

Even better, in this picture, fouriering something is just a change of basis from :theta: step function components to e^(ikx) components. Also position to momentum space shenanigans

3b1b is great, made a lot of concepts in highschool and early college actually make sense. I really miss these types of videos, because having someone explain more advanced topics like tensor calculus in a similar way would've been a lifesaver.

But I suppose dealing with shit you don't fully understand is just part of adulthood :marseydepressed:
