I don't think it's so bad as long as there is a hardware backup button somewhere

I don't think Tesla does backups for anything. The cyber truck has no mechanical link between the steering column and the wheels so if it fails, bye bye life. I'm surprised you don't have to navigate the touch screen to honk the horn.

It seems like it depends on the model of tesla. Some of them have a lever behind the steering wheel you can move up or down to shift but others look like they are touch screen only. Owners manual doesn't mention the lever but I found some videos online of it.

Guess I never thought about where they put the reverse on electric cars, there's no transmission so I don't even know where the best place would be

Seems like the most are copying the design Toyota cemented with the Prius.

That or a column lever -- up is forward, down is reverse, push in for park.

Most gas cars have been using electronic shift mechanisms for years now.

Why are these r-slurred car designers doing shit because they can?

Cheaper to just have one screen and no buttons and tech designers are all obsessed with muh minimalism

>muh minimalism

Meanwhile, the GUI has to have windows fade in or out, and drop-down menus glide down. I fricking hate it! Just load my shit now now now!!!

:marseyfluffyannoyed:

Is it really minimalism when you have to click through a bunch of shit in order to adjust something? A single button accomplishes this....

None of the EV car design people are actual car-cels.

The indicators would annoy me more than that, at least when switching to reverse you're stationary and can look at what you are pressing

Oh all the things, that's not bad, but I'd rather have cruise control there. I guess the spin knob on the right does that except for accelerating and decelerating while in cruise control mode?

Afaik the car auto changes gears? I disabled :marseyjoe: it along w most other autonomous features bc I like the car a lot, but I also bought a 60k car so I can drive :marseymespecial: it? Not sit in it doing nothing as it goes the speed limit? The performance/plaid spec is misaligned with the autonomous future :marseyremember: the company pushes.

Wait why didn't he just let the car do it for him?

I test drove one and you get used to it pretty quick.

It's an EV, why does it even need to have gears? SMH kids these days don't even understand basic car internals.
