So let me analyze this:

some f-slur stuck his head out the window out of a spaceship

This is historic because he wasn't a NASA astronaut. He didn't fly 200 combat missions in Korea, risking his own life to let South Korea become what it is today instead of another totalitarian shithole. He just like rode the vibes :marseyunamused:

Wow, what a great day for the human race.

Isaacman is not a war veteran but he's still an accomplished pilot and this spacewalk is historical because of the high altitude (>730km apogee) and because it's tge first being performed by a non-governmental organization.

And they would never ever ever admit it's because the Japanese built up more infrastructure there. I mean, how fricking hard is it to admit stuff like that, that the Japanese occupation was bad but they built a lot of useful stuff?

And the one thing they will never build a monument to even talk about is the American, Chinese, British, etc. troops who died to give them independence. It's really treacherous and disgraceful and doesn't improve their national honor. :marseysmug3:

Even SK nationalists have trouble admitting their economic system was a continuation of what the Japs putted in place during their occupation. Looking as an outsider modern SK looks like a combination of the best and worst aspects of Japanese work/study culture multiplied by 10.

Yeah, that's one of the biggest taboos there. You can never mention that their miraculous growth 1960s-1990s wasn't just a miracle. It was the Japanese offshoring a lot of their manufacturing. And the Japanese had got it from American companies first. Korea was a very poor country with a fairly well-educated population and it wasn't as corrupt as the Philippines. Foreign companies naturally flocked there. Modern Korean history has more holes in it than parts they're actually willing to talk about.

Oh yeah, I was gonna write about him but got derailed. Let's be brutally honest here, in the 1960s-1970s you were gonna get a dictator. And if you're choosing which one you're gonna pick this guy. (The Shah gets a lot of shit but I'd also put him high up on the list until he got cancer and didn't tell anyone and let the country fall apart.)

Jump in the discussion.

What? SK Nationalists know that the Japs were way better for them than the Chinks after 1950. Nearly every Gook General from 1945 to 1990 all had Imperial Japanese military roots.

Its the Leftoid South Gooks who think China and North Korea are great examples of communism to strive for. They are the ones who should be beaten into a coma. They're huffing so much copium its medically concerning.

Left Gooks - Simps for China and North Korea

Centrist Gooks - Simps for the US. Will eat sushi and tolerate Japs.

Right Gooks - Simps for the US and will not eat sushi but be adamamant that dipping sashimi (But will call it Hway) in spicy red dipping sauce is superior to wasabi/soy sauce and will maybe tolerate Japs.

Far Right Gooks - Demands nuclear weapons to nuke China, North Korea and Japan. Simps only for South Korea.

Air pressure in the suit is something like 1/2 or 1/3 normal earth air pressure and the air pressure in space is zero. Any change in posture from neutral must constantly work against the force created by that air pressure difference. If they didn't spend several days slowly lowering the air pressure he probably wouldn't be able to move at all.
