Winter camping is objectively the least fun outdoor activity and only perfomatively enjoyed as a perceived flex but in reality everyone else thinks you're a psycho.

Enjoy your frigid tundra, king :marseyclapping:

Yeah I agree to an extent, winter camping is definitely more about personal challenge than enjoying the outdoors. It's a good experience, not really a fun one.

It was also for a big Scout Jamboree at place where fur trappers met up to trade in the winter so it wasn't just camping for the sake of camping. There was trading, tomahawk throwing, shooting black powder flintlocks and shit like that to do.

The old leaders with my kids troop are the let's be miserable for the sake of misery and flexing though, like no I don't want to come sleep in a tent in someone's yard when it's 0 out just to get a fricking clear bead to wear for a flex.

It's great with a canvas tent and a wood stove and there's no bugs but yeah the fall is objectively the best time to camp overall.

You couldn't pay me to tent camp in the summer here in the Midwest.

The mosquitoes suck, but I do love the heat and the deafening sound of cicadas and katydids.

Let's face it, recreational camping is fundamentally r-slurred, but IMO winter camping is only somewhat more so.

Winter camping is challenging, but once you get it dialed-in with the right gear and techniques, the pleasures are sublime. Plus no crowds, bugs, etc...
