All my peers seem to have better careers than I do because they had the fortune of graduating into better economic times.

They're not your peers then, are they darling?

I was also a 2008 grad and still can’t find a job paying better than $40,000 a year. All my peers seem to have better careers than I do because they had the fortune of graduating into better economic times. I’d like for just once in my life to know what it’s like to bring in $50,000 or higher and feel I’m enjoying myself.

$40,000 per year as a burger is pitiful. But the year they graduated surely cannot be the reason, they must have majored in something that doesn’t produce much economic value :marseyquestion:

Way back when, I majored in communications/journ*lism in college

Oh that’s why :marseylaugh:

I entered the workforce at the same time. The company I worked for went out of business 4 months in and then nobody was hiring.

I'm actually glad I started out like that. Much, much better than hitting your first recession when you have a mortgage, car lease and dependents.

I hate poor people, especially ones that made bad decisions but pretend it's society's fault. I'm a 2013 grad and I made 25k more than that in my first job after getting my degree. The difference: I got a real degree

Graduating in a better economic climate changes nothing, they could have changed jobs when things got better. It's not like hiring managers look at your resume and go "oh cant hire this one, they graduated during a downturn!"

I'm not even sure we can blame the degree when make-work DEI officers can earn bank.

The problem is getting such a degree and not knowing how to grift with it.

No mention of the degree, of course. Either take the entry level job in your field, gain experience and then go for a better job, or go study something else lmao. In my experience, fresh grads are jobless for a season, or jobless for a reason

Most people aren’t jobless on graduation anymore anyway

Kinda depressing, but bottom feeders like that are needed to keep the wheel turning.

I've worked in staffing and some of the job postings for like 20something an hour help desk roles. And someone in their 30s, 40s applying. Guess it's gotta be someone.

20ish an hour is decent money why not apply for it in between real jobs

You easily make more waiting tables. That's my barometer for 'good' money or not

This person seems genuinely pitiful, and not in the funny way.

They are huffing copium but it's probably either that or the rope at this point.

2007 grad, doing good even after having a late start. This confirms my theory that the juniors were r-slurred
