lol bruh saying its expensive isn't the same as saying you can't afford it.

Besides if you were really rich you'd skip the lifts and go heli-skiing.

$1500-2000

For skis and boots? You can get that for like $200-300.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

You can't get good ski boots for that price.

You can get decent second hand ones, unless prices are just completely fricked where you're at.

There's so much used gear from upper middle class people who bought it and went once.

And I'm pretty sure like 80% of the US population doesn't even have to fly and lives within a couple hours of something.

The whole thread is full of r-slurs literally from Brazil saying it's too expensive for them so he shouldn't talk about it.

How much of the US do you think :marseymischevious: lives :marseyslm: in Texas, Socal, and Florida? Bc that alone :marseyitsdangerous: makes your percent :marseymutt: off.

Even Texas, you could drive to Colorado in a day if you really wanted to ski

Jump in the discussion.

unless you're in Amarillo that is a long enough drive that you'd save money and time flying instead

Jump in the discussion.

Yeah but if you're too poor to even save money and time on a flight you could drive there in a day

Shitty skiing makes you good. Rockies skiers are soft and collapse into a puddle of nerves if they encounter any slop or slush, PNWChads can go bang out 50k/day riding over pine needles and open creekbeds, Northeast Gods will treat a frozen gully filled with 6" of refrozen crust, rocks and roots as a slalom course and embarrass everyone

I did a course last year in April where half of it had melted completely down to the mud but it wasn't clear until you were past the point of no return.

I was basically boarding on patches of snow like a foot wide all the way down ready to bury the nose in the mud and kill myself.

Anyways it was a blast

The type of poor seething on Twitter wouldn't be caught dead in second hand gear unless it was ironic thrifting. Someone too r-slurred to save a couple hundred dollars a year for a vacation pays full price for new products, subscribes to every streaming service, and spends a fortune on weed (totally not addicted tho). Sure, maybe they won't get the new iPhone 15 Pro, but they're definitely going to shell out $700+ on the regular model next month.

Middle class/poor discourse mirrors old money new money discourse where the latter always is too proud to take hand me downs and the former thrifts for fun.

Like a billionaire driving a Toyota in cargo shorts while some Chinese dude in all branded clothing goes broke on a Lambo.

Skies are shit that never goes bad and just breaks. At my family house there is 20 pairs of skies that had been there collecting over time. Shit my grandparents skies from the 50s is still there and can be used

You know I still think its just a giant cope. Because usualy poor = fat. So when confronted with physical activity they just use their daily doordash habits as an excuse to lament people who suggest doing something that might burn a little off from their fat gut.
