Why does the Philippines need golden rice at all? They can easily grow yams, sweet potatoes, and carrots, their land is extremely fertile and their people still have a good understanding of subsistence farming. I suppose I see a reason in places like Nepal where their soil is poor and the growing season is short.

@ReKonger0 wise me up my mayo Filipino bro

What's up with first worlders insistence that developing countries populations should remain doing subsistence farming?

Because it's BASED and TRAD. They don't want their 13 year old tradwife to be corrupted by western vitamin A when they go pick her up after being a KHV at 40.

Rightoids wanting to RETVRN is one (quite delusional) thing, but for me the worst comes from “progressives” with a patronizing attitude and white-savior-complex. Most of their opposition to GMOs is ideological (muh Monsanto, muh Bayer, le evil corpos poisoning poor farmers) and they think only them can protect the poor wretched “third-worlders”

Extreme income disparity. Which, knowing upper middle class people in both Manila and rural areas, this isn't because they want people to be poor. It's one of these shitholes like Lebanon where people who mean well can't make a difference. Other than helping dig out the bodies when there's a lahar.

Golden rice is a glow-op pushed by Bill Gates and it's doubtful whether it actually works at all for preventing vitamin A deficiency

I can't make a precise estimate, but assuming the chilling effect extends to similar efforts elsewhere in the developing world, the potential effect could be in the order of 100,000 avoidable child deaths per year.

I was not accusing Greenpeace and its ideological allies of committing a crime against humanity. Now, I'm done holding back. Greenpeace, j'accuse.

If you don't trust the science^TM, you're causing 100000 kids to die (source: my butt) and commiting a crime against humanity!!! :soycry:
