They complain about overdraft fees but if the bank would have rejected the payment then they'd get slapped with payment returned fees from the other side.
Still, it is an insane amount. Assuming 320 million people (in reality it's less than this bc for the most part only adults will get charged these fees) that's just over $106/person.
I don't fault the banks here, it's just crazy that millions of people pay literally hundreds of dollars every year for overdraft fees, which are easy to avoid.
