Average salary for a teacher working 9 months is $70k. The average goes above $100k in certain states.
50-60 hours a week for a job paying between $93-133k annualized on average is really not so bad. And that's before accounting for the amazing benefits teachers get (including access to PLSF student loan forgiveness).
My pay isn't great, but it's better than what most people around here get paid. I get great benefits, a staggering amount of vacation time (which I use to make even more money with even fewer hours per day), and automatic raises from the college courses my school district pays for.
Teachers that complain about their salaries are kitties or city folk, but I repeat myself.
When I was young teachers would always complain about their salary and maybe they were right to do so. So naturally I never seriously considered teaching as a career field. Don't know why do many teachers complain about their pay. The fact that is doesn't pay much relative to the education needed is far from a secret.
It doesn't pay much relative to the education needed because the very same individuals who are sneeding about pay enjoy putting more and more barriers and advanced degree requirements in place. Your average elementary school teacher during the peak of the American Dream had a high school diploma and maybe a 2 year degree from a community college. Now, with credentialism creep, you need masters and multiple other certifications to teach, and the end product doesn't show any appreciable improvement.

The "has a masters degree" stuff is also disingenuous. Teachers pay for degree mill online degrees that would be nigh worthless if not for education payscales.
Funny, when we need more pharmacists, they increase the pay, and we now have enough. My kids' schools were always staffed with teachers. It's almost like they paid enough to teachers.
Pharmacist salaries operate on supply and demand though. Teacher salaries are based on government education budgets.
I think teaching should be a side job and not your main source of income, but people are fixated that they are somehow gods who should be veneratd no matter what

I see the poors are pretending to be big wallet niggas again est. 2016
Hello, welcome to 'I see the poors are pretending to be big wallet gangstas again'
This hole exists as a safe space for refugees from the Facebook(MetaTM groups of the same name. Of which there have been several iterations. We mostly exist to poke fun at the state of living in poverty. While it oftentimes is unavoidable, we do aspire to not be meanspirited. Over the years we have co-opted the term 'Peak Poor' to being someone who exudes poverty, regardless of their actual net worth. Trump and Elon both exhibit the peak poor ethos from time to time while still being the top 0.000001%. You can do something peak poor and still be a good person or a generally adjusted one. We all have a bit of poor in us.
We basically fill a niche similar to fatpeoplehate with a bit less actual malice.
PeakPoor is shotgunning mountain dews at 5 years old.
PeakPoor is not people dying of poverty. While technically the greatest heights of poverty is succumbing to it this is not funny, and is a failure
of capitalism. We do not make fun of poverty to be mean spirited such as that.
Read the room, if it's punching down too hard or really digging into someone whos a sympathetic character it doesn't belong here. (basically READ THE ROOM)

Subscribe to this hole, it's important that we get our numbers up. Love numbers = peak poor
Bonus points for making your post title some variation of peak poor. (Pinnacle of Poverty, Prowess of the Penniless)
I am looking for a mod who will help me grow this place and encourage the facebook community where the majoryity of our members reside
to migrate. Contact me if interested.
I really do love you all so very much, i'm even spending drama coin to get some banners and marseys. thanks for being a part of the community.

Teaching is generally a profession for two kinds of people:
1. The people who inexplicably consider education to be their 'calling'.
2. The people who sleepwalk into education because they're not really good at anything and being in school is the only thing they know.
Pay doesn't factor hugely in their decisions to enter the field, but reality starts to kick in eventually.

Everyone I knew who went into teaching, except one, fell into camp 2. Most of them are people you wouldn't want around your kids.

There's a weird bias people have for women where they just assume they're automatically good around kids.
