Guy complains about price with "free" whataburger deal that ends up being $10, r/whataburger tells him to shut his fricking poor mouth this is *actually* cheap

I don't really get it, are these redditors all living in extreme cost areas like LA or just defending a $6 cup of sugar water and clump of fries cause only chuds complain about inflation?

seriously tho these "free" whataburger things just take advantage of how ridiculously overpriced every side item is nowadays and make you buy them to compensate, it's not even a deal :marseymcwagie: :marseylaptopangry2:

I had to look it up but I don't think you even needed to buy sides as part of the deal. Bro could just have just walked out with a free burger, but decided to add a bunch of other shit and then go "but I thought it was free!!"

I mean obviously he knew what he was doing but what's with all the bitching. Those seem like pretty typical fast food prices for HCOL areas.

I've seen 2 "free" sandwich deals from Whataburgers in my area. One was a coupon and the other an in app deal. Both required you to at least get a medium fries (>$2.99) and medium drink (>$2.39) so you end up paying around $6 for what you thought going in was going to be a free sandwich and prob more as this guy shows proof of, which is another shitty dark pattern they've implemented. Not to mention that's not far off from the normal price this whole thing would have been a couple years ago here.

The inflation on sides are even more insane cause they can get away with it a lot easier than the mains which people actually remember the prices of. Mcshits tried to release their "mcvalue" menu a month or so back and most quickly realized the prices on those items actually went up lmao

Huh, the one I saw was just that it had to be a new account tied to your phone.

Obviously tho they've gotta have some way of making money. The Wendy's by me does BOGOs which are the only time I really bother getting them (can get two sandwiches, which is a full large meal worth of calories, for like $6).

Honestly $6 for a burger, fries, and drink, probably totaling well over 1000 calories doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. I'm assuming this is mid-rate fast food, I've never been myself.
